Lenten Cheating

So I am trying to recover from my period of slackness. But I am having an "issue" caused by poor project planning- the project resources have fallen drastically short- I am out of raw materials. That is to say, no more yarn. I have only enough for two or three more rows. Perhaps my hairless friend would like a soft and toasty headband? Didn't think so. I am off to my LYS for "lunchtime knitters" today in order to buy more yarn (sorry lenten sacrafice, but I need it to get my lenten project done!) and maybe have a bowl of Pho (yummmm!) is the deal too. Things could be worse... (like my yarn store could not have any more of that color...)

And so you have somethiong to do at the office today besides all of that pesky work that they keep giving you, here are some photos and rough specs on the chappeau. It is knit from On Line Linnie II "Alpha" in deep purple. Although the yarn is a pain in the butt (splits-ville) the colors are delish, so it is worth it. This one, although you can't tell from my less than mad photo skillz, is a lovely jewel tone eggplanty color, and it is mercerized, so it is a bit shiny. I am knitting on size 3 Brittany Birch needles, which aren't really long enough, and I am knitting it flat because Barbara Walker did not have the good grace to translate the stitch pattern that I am using to be knit in the round, and I am waaay to lazy to do that.

The stitch pattern, incedentally, is (as I said above) from Barbara Walker book 1 (the blue one) and is called "The Candle Tree." The candle tree itself is turning out to be a bit taller than anticipated, but I can deal. Tune in later to see if the yarn store had more yarn, or if I am finishing the top off in orange!
